Tokyo Calling Episode 102

tc'102

As I'm feeling a bit under the weather and am rushing to meet a couple of deadlines, the episode I had intended for 102 could not get produced this week. Instead, I blushingly offer you this 24 minute tumeric-laced-recording. I really never intended it to last more than a few minutes - just to say that there wouldn't be an episode this week is really all I meant to do. But that wasn't to be.

I seemed to shift into an unknown over-drive gear once the power-drink kicked in. Before I knew what hit me a third of an hour had passed.

I had also hoped to get to bed early this evening. Somehow with this sensation of something like lightning coursing through my veins, I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. Maybe, I'll clean my room or read some Joseph Conrad.

If all the recent junk-emails about bigger being better are to be believed, then this 71 minute bait-and-switch cast will be the best episode ever. What was originally intended as a response to Timo's comment on episode 99, wound up being something entirely different. I'll leave the final judgement to you: the kind listener.

Element Time
Prologue 0:00-5:48
Bait & Switch in Suidobashi 6:27-9:58
Segment 1 at Yasukuni 10:15-30:56
Segments 2 & 3 at Yasukuni 32:00-45:29
WBAI's Bob Fasse Show with Bob Dylan 45:29-48:08
Segment 4 at the ironing board 48:08-71:11

At long last, here is the much agonized over one hundredth episode of Japan's First Podcast. Thanks to all who been listening for a while as well as those who have recently found their way here.

Here's to the next hundred.

Thanks to San Nakji and Gareth Q. for sending in audio comments.
