070807 Update and Announce

This quick 15 minute announcement was recorded live on Talkshoe. In it, I recapped the past CTC #8 from this past Friday night and talked about what's ahead for TCTV.

If you'd like to listen to the nearly hour-long #8 CTC you'll have to get it from the TalkShoe site. There were quite a few worthwhile moments that got recorded. There was also a lot of incoherent gibberish and inattentive responses from the exhausted host.

Ideally, I'd like to follow Matt's suggestion and produce an excerpt from each CTC as a podcast for the regular Tokyo Calling Feed. Alternatively, also from Matt, I might add the feed URL for CTC on Talkshoe to the Tokyo Calling blog for those who might be interested.

As for TCTV, a new loop of archived tc_vlog episodes has been programmed. It also includes a short bit I shot at Akihabara today. In it and in this podcast episode, I invite one and all to send in video. The hope being that it might be able to use TCTV to showcase work that you'd like to share with the tc listeners and viewers.

Hi Scott.

Wow, TC goes from strength to strength. First a great podcast, then live audio, then streaming TV with a live cut-in scheduled too!

Yes that Mogulus web site looks like a lot of fun.

I enjoyed the CTC episode from Friday, you guys are going great guns. The only problem is the short periods of silence, but with phone delay, what can we do?

It seems like you are enjoying using talkshoe for a lot of your recordings now. What do you see as the advantages? I am almost tempted to have a try.. almost :D

Anyway, I am proud to know you at this time. You are doing some amazing things!

Got a segment recorded from Miyajima that I might try to get out this week(if I'm lucky). You are welcome to use it as well as my video of shinto dancing at Kamakura on TCTV. What service is it that you talked about distributing large files?

Mark A: Thanks for the comment. There certainly a lot of interesting tools becoming available lately. I'm fortunate to have a chance play with some and them and hopefully use them in interesting and meaningful ways.

Got your earlier email and would love to feature one of your videos on next week's TCTV.

San: As always, thanks for the generous words.

As for using TalkShoe, major disadvantages are time waiting for the files to compress and become available so that I can link to them and less than stellar sound quality. There is always the option to upload a locally recorded file (hopefully with better sound) to replace the one that TalkShoe creates. Again that takes extra time.

The primary I reason I've been using it distribute files through the TC feed is that it generates a bit of income. Also it allows me to avoid putting out numbered podcast episodes - ultimately further delaying the looming 100th show.

Matt: By all means, I'd love to put up some of your vids. The service I mentioned is called Pownce. San is quite enthusiastic about it, though I've not tried it out yet. As for transferring large files, if you upload it to a server and give me a URL, I can download it. Or I can give you ftp access to my server and you can upload it here. Let's sort it out in email or on the twitter.

A great start to TCTV.

Mogulus really looks like it could be a lot of fun once the beta is over...I hope I can get into the beta though. I think I lack the credentials for a good bid however.
