Scott please don't quit Tokyo Calling, it's the first podcast I ever downloaded and it's great. Your voice is soothing and comfortable and I'll definitly miss it if you decide to quit. Well, hopefully you will do something so we can still hear from you. Your awesome Scott !!!

Scott: It's amazing to think you're not far off your hundredth episode of Tokyo Calling. It would be great if the hundredth episode consisted largely of audio postcards from listeners of Tokyo Calling. In fact, the 99th episode could be all about audio, which would enable and encourage some of your less technically-inclined listeners to put something together and email it to you.
Have you thought about doing a different podcast after Tokyo Calling, perhaps one that is more Japan-orientated, closer to what you originally intended Tokyo Calling to be? You could post topics on your site such as "Education", "Eating Out", "Culture Shock" etc., and invite people to post questions which you could then address in the podcast. This would keep you really focussed and increase the interaction with listeners.
I secretly hope that you will just stick with the current format until you are 64!
All the best,
Karamoon

Scott, it sounds like a Tokyo Calling eulogy.. :( I don't want that!
Still, I support whatever you decide as you have given me three years of great listening pleasure :)
I have two places in Japan I love, Kiyomizudera in Kyoto and Nara Kooen in Nara. Great places for contemplation :)

No more Tokyo Calling would be a sad thing indeed. But, it is Scott's call. We will at least need occasional updates about the girls if TC goes on the shelf! :)
Karamoon's suggestions has some merit, more like John In Japan (back when I listened to it). It might mean even more work than the current TC incarnation with scripting and research, so there's that to be considered. I'd certainly be sending in questions, because it might be the most direct contact I ever get with Japan :)
I've got my places in mind for the next CTC - I think I'll be calling back in on a landline so my audio is acceptable :)

Let me join in asking you to keep it up beyond the 100th episode, Scott. Whinging or not, I love listening to your podcasts. It's a tremendous insight into Japan, a country I may be visiting for business before too long (which I'm enthusiastic about mostly from the exposure that you've given the country.)

I think we've all been subjected to our podcasts not being what they originally were designed to be. I personally enjoy listening to your podcast, and always look forward to the next installment. :)

I hope you keep on going with Tokyo Calling. Your show was one of the first podcast I subscribed too. Scott, if you can keep it going... please do. But if not, thank you for introducing me to Japan and to your great podcast.

Well, I'll just add my voice to list of subscribers who would like to see Tokyo Calling continue.
But I would entirely understand if you want to try something new for a while or take TC in a new direction.

Gah! Is it me but is everyone who started 3 years ago reaching casting burnout. I didn't think Japan's First Podcaster would just now come to the realization that his show has been off topic.
Well, Scott to be completely frank because you were sharing your story, because you never had a real topic to cover, because you were so real TOKYO CALLING is the longest running podcast in my OPML feed. You are the reason I have created more than 300 podcast episodes of my own. And I know this is being selfish but I wouldnt have your show any other way.
I wanted to comment earlier but your Calling TC shows were not very good because they were too rigid. I don't need another talk show to listen to. And I sure don't want Chris to dominate your show as he has. I subscribe to hear you and your story at the park. I love it when the girls are on. And best of all when you are ironing. If you have to give it up, like you did the SumoCast which I also loved since you had little clue what you were doing, just hang'em up and ride into the sunset. Do a vblog now and then, but dont re-invent yourself cause your great as is man.
