Calling Tokyo Calling 005-A
What can I say? I dropped the ball, yet again. When I woke up at 1:00 a.m., I had a nagging thought that there was someplace I needed to be. Groggy and unable to clear the cobwebs, it wasn't until I checked my email and noticed an audio file from Christopher that I realized I'd missed my show again! Doh!!
Luckily Chris and a few of the guys joined together for a Skype Conference call and carried on in my absence. The topic as schedule was "Podcasts that you've been listening to." Nice recording, thanks everyone.
Later, I decided to do a make-up TalkShoe recording with the hope of playing the audio from Christopher and the others. But there were technical issues. I had the wrong audio input configured on Gizmodo so all that TalkShoe picked up was the built-in mic on the MacBookPro - no audio through the mixer - and noisy.
After a bit of editing on Audacity, I was able to put together this CTC 5A mash.
| Links to Podcasts mentioned | |
|---|---|
| Christopher from Finding Japan | In this week's Economist (RSS) |
| Terrance from The Kobe Beef Show | (Cool) Shite on the Tube |
| San Nakjii from SNA Cast | The Best Show with Tom Scharpling on WFMU |
| Fabian | Bicycle Mark's Citizen Reporter |
| Jim from Hello From Michigan | Mac OS Ken |
Unfortunately, Jim's audio on the Skype chat had a bit of echo and didn't get included in this episode. Upon re-listening, it sounded far better than phone call from outer space at the beginning. Sorry about that Jim.
Thanks to everyone who joined in. Shall we try to do it again next week? Calling Tokyo Calling #6 has already been booked for Friday, June 22. I hope to meet you there.

Howdy Scott and Co., thanks for the mention! I guess I should say thanks to Fabian for his supportive words.
PS-- This thing was really an audio experiment.. funny to hear Scott popping in every now in then sounding like he's on the moon. TalkShoe continues to fascinate me, not always in the most positive sense, but it certainly has my attention.

Well, i think there is no need to say thank you, bicyclemark. I think it is very important and encouraging to see people like you taking a stand and trying to bring up and talk about underreported and important topics. I hope you will continue delivering such good interviews and sessions.
On a further note: by chance i came to this little experiment on talkshoe last friday. I just wanted to drop in and say a few nice things to scott, because i really like his personal style reportings from tokyo since a long time. soon, the chat developed into a full interview/radioshow, moderated in a professional way by cristopher. It sure was fun and i will try do come by for episode 6 this week !

It was fun Scott. Skype works pretty well and I was impressed with the audio quality too. Hope to see this week for CTC?
(ps how dare you cut me off! I must be heard! :P)
