Tokyo Calling Singers: New Doraemon Theme
Click Doraemon to listen
Thanks to the Tokyo Calling singers for pulling me out of a tight situation. I had high hopes of recording a full-blown episode 91 of Tokyo Calling. Try as I might, it just wasn't happening this evening.
Luckily the two eldest daughters allowed me to record them singing the new Intro and Outro themes to Doraemon. There is even a little bit of a fading echo of daughter #3 chiming in from time to time.
I have every intention of putting out #91 by the end of this coming weekend. Thanks for your continued patience.
Update 062707: When I woke up this morning, I noticed that TalkShoe had replaced the file I uploaded with the original blank recording. It would appear that more than 100 people have downloaded the blank one through RSS. I have restored the originally intended file. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Calling Tokyo Calling 006
I had a good time with the TalkShoe recording of CTC#6 last night. About a dozen listened live and were able to interact through the text chat.
Unfortunately, quite a few folks had problems connecting over the phone. It's a tricky issue which the folks at TalkShoe will be made less troublesome with an upgrade to their client software due out later this week (6/25).
Thanks to San for phoning in with recommendations to visit Nikko and Kyoto. Also a big welcome to Carl of the 90 Days in Japan Podcast who phoned in from Aichi and shared some recollections about time he spent in Hokkaido.
For the time being, I won't be putting the Calling Tokyo Calling mp3s on the TC podcast feed. A few listeners have requested not to have it included. For the time being, those who are interested can visit the CTC page of the Talkshoe site and listen to or download any past installment or subscribe to the Calling Tokyo Calling RSS feed.

Calling Tokyo Calling 005-A
What can I say? I dropped the ball, yet again. When I woke up at 1:00 a.m., I had a nagging thought that there was someplace I needed to be. Groggy and unable to clear the cobwebs, it wasn't until I checked my email and noticed an audio file from Christopher that I realized I'd missed my show again! Doh!!
Luckily Chris and a few of the guys joined together for a Skype Conference call and carried on in my absence. The topic as schedule was "Podcasts that you've been listening to." Nice recording, thanks everyone.
Later, I decided to do a make-up TalkShoe recording with the hope of playing the audio from Christopher and the others. But there were technical issues. I had the wrong audio input configured on Gizmodo so all that TalkShoe picked up was the built-in mic on the MacBookPro - no audio through the mixer - and noisy.
After a bit of editing on Audacity, I was able to put together this CTC 5A mash.
| Links to Podcasts mentioned | |
|---|---|
| Christopher from Finding Japan | In this week's Economist (RSS) |
| Terrance from The Kobe Beef Show | (Cool) Shite on the Tube |
| San Nakjii from SNA Cast | The Best Show with Tom Scharpling on WFMU |
| Fabian | Bicycle Mark's Citizen Reporter |
| Jim from Hello From Michigan | Mac OS Ken |
Unfortunately, Jim's audio on the Skype chat had a bit of echo and didn't get included in this episode. Upon re-listening, it sounded far better than phone call from outer space at the beginning. Sorry about that Jim.
Thanks to everyone who joined in. Shall we try to do it again next week? Calling Tokyo Calling #6 has already been booked for Friday, June 22. I hope to meet you there.

Tokyo Calling Episode 089
Since there was no TalkShoe episode this week, I felt compelled to put together this 30 minute back-2-basics-cast. Just as it was in the beginning, this episode features your host sitting alone in front of a microphone trying to tell a story or two. Topics include an idea for a podcast on podcasting, weirdness on the way to the Sunday cycling circuit, rooftop jackpots, and a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks to everyone who's sent email or left comments over the past few weeks. There have been some great words of encouragement - someday, I hope to properly respond to all. Unfortunately, owing to my overloaded schedule, it won't be anytime soon.
Running time: 30'33" ..:.. Filesize: 10.5 mb
Bit Rate: 48 Kbps (mono) ..:.. Sample Rate 44.100
Once again, thanks for listening! !

TalkShoe? Feh!
Christopher, Mafuchan and I were all there. Unfortunately, TalkShoe had some technical issues. End result: Calling Tokyo Calling #4 didn't take place. An episode has been scheduled for next Friday at the same time.
If opportunity allows, I'll schedule an impromptu show and announce it on twitter.

Tokyo Calling Episode 088
The levels are a little mismatched between segments of this 31 minute bounce-hit-cast. I'd rather have spent more time editing the file but ultimately the overwhelming reality of my schedule has forced me to release it as is.
It looks like I'll have to slow things down with the podcast for the next 7 weeks or so. I'll try to get two more episodes out this month.
Calling Tokyo Calling will continue it's Friday morning/evening run for as long as I can maintain this balancing act.
Links mentioned in this episode will follow, as time allows.
Running time: 31'35" ..:.. Filesize: 10.9 mb
Bit Rate: 48 Kbps (mono) ..:.. Sample Rate 44.100
Once again, thanks for listening! !

Calling Tokyo Calling 003
A little rough around the edges is this 3rd installment of CTC. Still it was a lot of fun to get to connect with the people who joined in the conversation. We'll be doing it again next week at the same time and place (June 8th at 9:15 a.m. EDT on the talkshoe).
