Tokyo Calling Episode 086
I'll probably need a week off to recover from recording and producing this 66 minute crazy-quilt-cast. Below is my feeble attempt at show notes with a few links. I'll try to update things as I recall what all was covered.

|---|---|
| 0:00:00-0:04:59 | Hello and opening comments from the park near Onarimon station |
| 0:05:03-0:08:05 | Early morning internet recap |
| 0:08:07-0:13:04 | To and from Yochien |
| 0:13:17-0:16:43 | Unvarnished and groggy in the morning |
| 0:16:45-0:34:35 | New York Couple, Scott at Yasukuni, New York Couple |
| 0:34:36-0:41:55 | Yochien singers and activity day wrap up |

Scott!
If there is any possible way for you to make money from this whole podcasting thing then you have to go for it! I would do anything I could to help keep Tokyo Calling on air! Strictly platonic though :) I would be surprised and shocked if any of your half decent listeners would begrudge you that. Hell, I would even click on the ads if that helped!
Play it safe really threw me. I first thought you had taken it from talkshoe. Then I thought maybe it was you in a past life. But no, not with that weird accent. After clicking on your link... well, WFMU! I should have known. What a great radio station!
Loving your kids on the podcast as usual :)
Talkshoe... if you need any help from me, please let me know!
Thanks for the shoutout :) Must try harder!
I like the new format too. I of course like the old format, but somehow I think you sound fresher like this. Maybe by doing it this way you don't feel the pressure and podcast when you feel like it.
Awesome! 43 thumbs up!

Great episode as usual. The random excerpts of other shows threw me for a moment. The sporadic updates throughout the week works nicely. We get to hear you in different aspects during your week. Keep up the good work and hope you'll be awake this Friday.
After listening to the episode, you should offer a web course of your podcasting class. I'd sign up for it in a minute.

Scott: The advertising issue is to do with you, not with your listeners. And it should be an issue for you as it's quite a big deal. The second you have advertising you are playing a whole new game. You may want to criticise your sponsor, or the parent of the sponsor, and yet you may hesitate because, consciously or subconsciously, you feel it could be unwise. That is why advertising is a big deal, and that is why it must be considered deeply.
It shouldn't really cost you anything to do Tokyo Calling. Hosting costs almost nothing these days, for example, I get 140 GB of storage and 1.4 TB of bandwidth for less than 10 USD a month. If you need equipment, just ask some manufactures to send you their latest products for you to try out and possibly review on Tokyo Calling, Japan's First Podcast...
If you ever need money, just ask your listeners for it. If you explain why you need the money, you will certainly receive it. (and yes, I'm just about to Paypal you some money!)
Take care of yourself and your family,

Matt: Tokyo Calling is a web course on podcasting. A couple of years from now people will be saying "Everything I ever needed to learn about podcasting I learnt from Tokyo Calling!"
For those needing some technical hints on how to get started, just watch episode 4 of Systm: http://revision3.com/systm/ There's also a detailed how-to guide in volume 2 of Make magazine, published by O'Reilly. Both these resources cover hardware and software.
