Tokyo Calling Episode 085

tc085
Recorded over 5 days a number of locations and a variety of equipment, this 36 minute episode requires more detailed show notes than I am able to provide at the moment. I'm excited about the method of cobbled together audio segments used here - though the execution in this particular case shows room for improvement.

Episode 86 is already underway and I intend to deliver early next week.

Time allowing, I'll try to do a better job of listing the various audio elements used in number 85.

Once again, thanks for listening! !

Hi Scott,
I liked the format for Episode 85, very dynamic and interesting. It's like a random sampling of your day-to-day life. Cheers. Geoff.

Scott... I liked the "mega-mix" episode 85. Thanks for playing the clip I sent you. I had completely forgotten about it, so it caught me off guard to hear myself all of a sudden. Looking forward to the next episode!

Hi Scott.

Great episode and I did like this format.
Its a very busy episode and it really captures the listeners attention.

Your experience in the conference room sounds like classic zen meditation. Relax the mind, concentrate on the breath and let the thoughts come and go. Eventually the daily mental chatter is reduced to zero and you can enter a relaxed meditative state.

I try to do it myself for a few minutes everyday, and I think it really helps to cleanse the mind.

Keep up the great work.

Regards, Mark.

Hey Scott

The Edirol R-09 looks like a neat bit of kit. What are its good and bad points? Do you always use an external microphone, or is the internal mic good enough to use in some situations?

A page on the Tokyo Calling website detailing the equipment and techniques you use for Tokyo Calling would be a great resource for the web. (web 1.0)

ps. I still can't seem to buy a Tokyo Calling t-shirt, mousemat, laptop, baseball cap, house...

Karamon: All of the outdoor recordings of late have been done with the built in mic elements on the R09. I think it is quite acceptable for this purpose. For the ironing casts, I've used an inexpensive Sony condenser mic or a lavalier.

You are right, it is probably way past time to set up some sort of gear page(s).

That's two items down the list past the merchandising. Guess, I gotta get my act together.

As for good/bad points on the R09 - I'll try to give it some thought and either discuss in an upcoming episode or put it on the equipment page.
