Tokyo Calling Episode 084

This 45 minute walking-in-the-rain-cast was recorded on the way to and back home from Teachers College - Tokyo in Suidobashi. Included is a bit of talk about what I've been up to and what's been on my mind (par for the course).

The episode ends with some musings about what other sorts of directions might be explored in the future.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the podcast. You brought up some interesting things.

I think radio is making a comeback (if it ever went away?) with podcasts and a direct result maybe the resurgence of radio dramas. I think that is something I would like to be into as well!

I always wonder if I have writing in me. It is something to ponder and I am envious that you are out there doing it!

I wanted to also say what a great idea it is to send your daughter to an American school for a few weeks. I hope to do this with my son and any future children, someday. Well, not to an American school of course, but to a Korean one...

One more thing I thought of as I listened to you. What keeps you in Japan? Why don't you, like many other foreigners living in Japan, pack up and head home? It really intrigues me...

Great listen!

San

Thanks for the comments Chris, Keltin and San.

As for why I continue to stay in Japan, it seems that circumstances have forced the issue. I'd prefer to go back to the states but can't even consider such a move until finishing the MA!

Perhaps this is a good topic for a future episode. Thanks for bringing it up San.

I think this is NPR's death roll, this context. They're gasping for some (fresh) air, hence the contest. Ive heard that comparison before, to American Idol for public radio. Thing is.. American Idol is a terrible show... so umm.. yeah.

More important.. I too like this sending your daughter to study in the US for a bit idea. Not that I loved studying in the US, BUT, she will benefit so much in terms of different experience, social environment, and she'll get with the latest slang.. that I think even you and I sometimes have trouble keeping up with.
