Tokyo Calling Episode 079

This 49 minute urban-adventurer-cast demonstrates why I am not an art critic. The main topic covered while ironing three shirts was a new-found sense of joy in discovering new places in Tokyo. Also thrown in were an update on Ghost Action, an invitation to join the discussion about this podcast at Crowd About, and a request for vlogging mission requests (similar to the Moresukine project).

Have you tried using Google Earth at all? I was able to find where we stayed in Japan the past couple times by using that app. I remember how to get there from the train stations and the roads so I just followed them. It's a pretty cool app too. It has a feature now that you can link pictures to Panoramia or somthing. You might try using that if Maps doesn't work for you.

Hi Scott, in the podcast, you metioned how the cities of Japan is not like many of the North American cities, and that it is not in squre grid forms (which is very true!). I wanted to let know a little exception to this. A tiny city outside of Tokyo, called Kunitachi, is actually in 'block' style. The city was re-built after the war, where the land was sold in blocks, which allowed the city to create straight and parallel streets.

Matt: Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, I'd just started working with Google Earth but didn't make it clear in the podcast. It is a nifty piece of software - good way to waste time, too.
Taylor: Thanks for saying so! Actually, I thought this one came off pretty well. The hissing of the steam from iron is can be a calming sound.
Lina: Thanks for the info about Kunitachi. That is a new one me. I'll have to go investigate. Maybe it'll be in a future vlog.
